Hanging in there...

I am persevering and trying to get the hang of this blogging thing! But in the meantime as I did mention a couple of days ago that my next post would be a little bit about me I thought I would give you a little sneak peak at some of my work.

'Kakatoi' (The local name for Parrot Fish)
Kakatoi (pronounced "kak - car - twar") is made up of every conceivable fabric and textile embellishment techniques. It is made mostly of recycled materials including buttons, beads and zips. I have appliqued, embroidered, stuffed and quilted my heart out! I love how the orange live coral on the left handside turned out - can you tell what its made of?

It has been a while since have completed any art work of this size. From 2010 to mid 2013 I was a fulltime artist, painting and producing textile/fibre art pieces such as the 2D sculpture above. But since then I have a fulltime job that doesn't leave much time for arty-ness on this scale.

In my spare time I still try to indulge in my passion for art, I love all things textiles, I love sewing and beading and everything in between. And lately I have caught the "art doll" bug! And that is definitely on my list of next must do's.

So for a bit more of a taste of what my blog is going to feature, you can view more of my art on my Facebook page - www.facebook.com/lionfish.seychelles or  follow this link to my Flickr page https://www.flickr.com/photos/lionfishseychelles/

New layout and experimenting...

I have been doing a little bit of experimenting and moving stuff about. Just trying to get the hang of this blogging malarkey! So please bear with me while I work it all out :-)

Today I'm loving beads!
